2018 i9 MacBook Pro review (after Apple thermal update)

Colin Smith tests and reviews the 2018 MacBook Pro. This is after the thermal throttle fix from apple. Testing the features and build of the MacBook Pro as well as comparing it to the 2017 MacBook Pro with Lightroom, Photoshop and Premiere Pro. Is this the beast you have been looking for, and is it worth all the money?

Thanks for checking this out (Bottom line, I like this update by Apple)

  1. How about if Apple came up with a 17 inch version of the MacBook Pro, and a CD-ROM and a Numeric Keypad. Also, a USB 3.1 port on each side. This could give the computer a little more breathing room inside the computer and some air vents. It would be nice to have a numeric keypad built in since some of us use it alot. I also like the wider screen. An HDMI port would be nice too. I love the portability of the MacBook Pros but I also like the size of a 27 inch I-Mac. I found a 27 inch Curved Samsung Ultra 4 K monitor at a Best Buy store, and it was 249.99. At home I would use it with the MacBook Pro, and a Magic Keyboard 2 and Magic Mouse 2, but also have the MacBook Pro to take on trips, or just outdoors when the weather is nice. I am glad that Apple got a patch for the I-Core throttling problem. I like everything else about the New MacBook Pro, with the 6 Core I-9 and 32 GB of Ram, and the Radeon Pro 4 GB, and I agree about the 1TB SSD. I would keep what the Files I need and use the most on it and keep the rest on my external drives. I would not want anything less than a 1TB SSD. I also saw on the Apple website that they are coming out with the next Mac OS, called Mohave in the Fall. I also saw on a YouTube review that the I-Mac will be getting an upgrade with a 6 core processor and phasing out the fusion drives. Thank you for the review and it was helpful.

  2. I am interested in a comparison of the 2018 MacBook Pro with the latest iMac in terms of performance and price.

  3. Just got the same configuration as yours replacing my maxed out late 2015 27” iMac and seeing a good boost in speed, but the price is really ridiculous for these MacBook Pros, thanks for the review!
