I like the first one a lot, but the next two are exactly what I hate about HDR.

This is more of a general rant, not towards you. People are going crazy with this HDR business. I understand that it's a cool new technology and that people are all caught up in the hype. But people need to TONE IT DOWN.

Take the second two images here from Hermie. Great composition (though maybe a straightened horizon in #2 would be better), and probably fine pictures in their own right. Could HDR make them better? Perhaps, but only when used on a smaller scale.

Having said that, I really think you can make those last two work, Hermie. Just try toning it down a bit, especially on the skies.

My two cents anyways.

Wow, first and last ones are amazing! I found that the few times I've done HDR they become really grainy.... any clue why?

:lol You got it spot on... I think they are all to much HDR.... but it was something o had to do ;)
I didn't use photoshop in anyway (except for the border and the copyrights).... The purpose of these three images was just to see what it could do... I took the images of the bridge because of the detail in under the bridge. The mill is one of the favorite in the collection..... The church is one of my first ever HDR images taken....

I think you would love this one.... http://www.photoshopcafe.com/cafe/viewthread.php?tid=52176

That's what I'm talking about! Just enough to get some great highlights out of the truck and some of the background.

The first one is super clean, 2 and 3 need some micro-smoothing to get rid of the halos.

bdbolin - Micro smoothing will reduce noise. Also don't crank up the micro contrast and strength all the way.

Experiment with the light smoothing first, them make the tweaks. Typically I use the second to the right.
