Ashworks, thanks to you I found out I could do the transparency thing.

Loiosh, I like #1 better too, but I bow the majority opinion.

Jimmy Pin, how did I do it? I started out by making a new layer ABOVE the photo background image, and doing a tracing of the flower petals. I do it with mouse and hand, but that is not as tedious as it sounds. On an empty layer you can just erase mistakes and fix those. I hand painted the leading on the outer glass panes.

With the leading isolated on a layer, you can emboss it if you like that look. I like the black better.

I used the freeware plugin Simplifier to texture the flower. I almost always use
Eye Candy's glow to slightly darken the edges of the glass panes.

Plus some detail work and toucing up

    Thanks again

Jimmy Pin, I have a huge collection of glass textures-----most I made myself,
some I adapted from photos of real glass, a few were with permission from Spectrum Glass.

I will share those with you if you or anyone else....but WARNING, it's about 12 megs of downoading.

Shoot me an email if you want them.

    PS....

I forgot to mention the glass textures
are already online, broken down into
2 meg zip files so you don't have to
download all files at one time.

You can weed through and delete any
    you don' t like. Although there are about 400 of them I rarely use a texture as is;
I customize them to suit the individual picture.

They are not seamless but some are quite large.

That's awesome work! I've never been a big fan of stained glass, but this is outstanding. The transparency lends a nice effect, but I would think it would be a bit more blurred (unless those panels were plain glass of course). I guess I'm the odd one out and like the first one better.
