Have you added anything recently, fonts especially but any presets added will slow it down, that's all I can think of at the moment.

dblclick on a layer for layer styles?
takes about 5-10secs on my PIII - 500
so, nothing to worry about ?!

Sounds like you are running low on memory or scratch disk space. Clean up your HD and defrag the drive that your primary scratch disk is on.

i found that if i dont give too much memory to photoshop it seems to use the swap or scratch (whatever it uses to primarily run tasks) which doesnt slow down the computer all that much (ive got 3 partitions one for swap, 512megs, one for program files, 1.3 gigs, and one for all the crap i save)

does anyone know if the temp file in pshop is primarily for the file your working on or the task pshop is doing to the file as well?

oh i forgot to add the reason i do that is because i have a memory manager running to stop crashes to win 98 due to memory probs (128 megs) and when photoshop eats memory it runs like crazy but if i take it off the computer crashes?

so my choices are quick with the memory manager

slow with high memory allocation to photoshop

    or not at all
