    having trouble \"putting\" files

    Hi all!

For some reason I am getting an error when i try to "put" my files.

    The error is as follows:

An FTP error occurred- canot put company.dwt.550. company.dwt: permission denied"

Does anyone know what the problem might be.

I think this is the last thing I need to do before I get my site up and running.

    Thanks!!

    Hi Kaetar,

Have you checked that all the Remote Info details are correct.

If they are then perhaps a call to your hosting company might help.

For me personally this is what I use:

    Hope this helps!.

Also if you got a firewall on your own machine make sure 'Use Passive FTP' is checked.

One last point - where I have ftp.domainname.com on the FTP HOST and LOGIN you'd simply insert your own domain in there.

The Login and Password would be what your hosting comapny gave you. In my case its my domain and the username for my account.

if you can connect and you can download, chances are your FTP info is correct. however if you are trying to upload a new directory, you'll probably not have permission to do so. there are two ways around this: if it's your own web space, go in through the administration panel and create the directory there. OR if you are trying to upload say for a client, then ask the administrator of their web server to create the directory or assign you permission to upload to it.

    hope that makes sense.

    Thanks for all your help.

I have checkied e/thing you guys have suggested and all seems to be like good.
I am still getting the same error.

BTW Martin - instead of "ftp.mydomain"
    i have "www.mydomain.com"
I dont think that would make a difference but i thought would mention it.

I think my only other option is to get in contact with my hosting company and see why im being denied permission.

    Thanks guys!

PS - Do you all know of any help you can get with dreamweaver over the phone....id even be interested in pay - per call...Thanks!

    Hi Kaetar,

I'm not sure on telephone support as I've never used it plus I'm not sure on your location. So I've got the MACROMEDIA website forum URl where you can navigate to what location you are in etc:

    Hope this helps,

    Martin.

I had the same thing, it made me go bananas. I bought a router (barricade, built in firewall) and the problems started. I called my hosting company and I think they just reseted the site and everthing works again. ...
