I don't quite understand what you were intending to save Todd.
Do you mean that you'd like to make an action out of the steps that you took to create whatever it was that created?

History will be gone when you close document. To save the effect, trying making an action. That way you may have that effect saved for whenever you want to use it. Go to actions palette, click on submenu triangle (upper right). Then hit new action, and start recording your steps. When finish, hit stop.

Post it up and I'll see if I can puzzle it back out for ya.

Wow! I never realized how easy and cool it is to make different backgrounds from just doinking around with filters and stuff...
After looking at this a second time, its not that great, Im just real happy at some of the stuff I am making from just screwing around with filters....
This may have some application if I (or you) could get it to look more like a Zebra or something like that.. who knows.

****As far as actions GO!!!!!!!!!!!*** PLEASE SOMEONE EXPLAIN YOUR PROCESS TO ME!!!_----
What I mean is, --Okay I make a new doc, fiddle around and find a really cool effect... Now what do I do? ...Open a new doc, hit record and then go back and forth recording the steps from the original?
Will the action record me leaving the canvas to the other canvas?
This would probably be a very helpful post for alot of us, how you guys go about making an action from start to finish!
I mean, I can more than figure out the technical part, but how do you create, like it, then record it!
sorry -- very long winded?

when doing actions it recoreds the steps you took . say you got to filter and render clouds, the action will save that step in written fourm (exp. clouds) if you were to changer the hue it will save the hue, saturation and lighting you applied (exp. hue: 120 saturation: 10 Light: 50) the action just keeps a record of what you do . no pictures. As long as the record button is on it recoreds everything you apply . The recored button is the circle at the bottom of the action panel, whenits recording it will be red. hope this made some sence lol .
