Wow! Are those lilacs? I really miss the lilacs from the north. Wonder why they don't have them in California.....ah, nice butterfly too.

Yes, and they are just on there way out. I love them, but they flower for such a short period of time. The smell is wonderful right now.
I was very happy with the layout on this one especially getting the shot with a full spread on the butterfly. That is a hard one to capture as they move around so much and a lot of the time that they are still their wings a folded up. I was disappointed with the definition and the contrast. I may be able to work on that if I do any post processing.
Should I bottle up the smell and send ya some Zsue?

    FANTASTIC!!!
Great composition and a great angle.
I know well the impulse to shoot at high shutter speed because of the wind, the movement of the subject, and the sometimes uncomfortable position necessary for the shot, but the closer you get to F16 the greater the depth of field.
This shot is beautiful, and the only MINOR improvement would be the leaves and flower pedals in the forground to be in focus.

Wonderful angle indeed. I'm not *stabs the keyboard* sure why exactly, but the ultra-clear sky is just... really strange. It's almost like you cut out the lilacs and the butterfly and pasted it on a blue background. o0

That's not to degrade the shot at all, no. You couldn't help the weather any more than you could the butterfly But just a note worth making... maybe some *dun*dun*DUN* manipulation is in order. *smiles evilly*

I'm sorry but I don't agree. The "look" gives much strength and originality to this pic. I think that's what's it all about, capture something special and this can be done in a very short moment of a day, a night, in some place. This photograph has alot of quality and things can look like this, as said before, for a small moment.
    Just my point of view
