This was my 1st real practice project… My selections are a bit on the sloppy side. With practice I know I'll get better.
My homemade drop shadow could use some work/practice.
Probably even my initial selection when starting the out of bounds part.

Firsttimer its ok. But yeah practice will get you better.
You have to learn how to remove white part around the girl, the picture with the field is pixelated also the shadow need a better work and the setting, like the picture got shadow but her feet does not, and it seems like she is floating.

I tried making the selection with Channel Layers… Since then, I've learned to incorporate saturating my images then using calculations then levels for more fine tuning & if needed dodging and burning my alpha channel if needed…
The white border was supposed before a Polaroid effect…
If I was to redo this, I would probably include the dugout in the background instead of the ground behind her… Making the Polaroid effect stand straight up in the back…
Probably use layer styles for the drop shadow…

It’s good for a first shot, just keep practicing and you’ll get better. I’ve learned more through playing around in PhotoShop than I did when I took actual classes.
Slowly starting to figure that out, the more I actually do… The more I actually fiddle around, I'm starting to pick up on things…
The classes tell you what the tools are & describe what they're capable of, but… The classes will come in handy when it's time to test for certification.
Not bad for a first try, especially when you selected using the pen tool. Some advice to help out, try the quick selection tool (w) and when you got it dialed in where you like it right click and use refine edge. The should help with your edges a good bit. As for the shadow it's not bad but maybe try extending it a little more.
Pretty decent for a first try, I remember my first extraction being rougher then that.
