I'm (hoping) that we can post finalists by Thursday
Just waiting on one judge, so I can't spill any beans yet.
BTW, I have no idea, how we are going to pick the winners, these are superb, trying to narrow it down is REALLY hard![]()
What if you ask the finalists to choose their personal favorite five ( not including their own) to help you decide the top five spots . I think if you let the circle of winners help you with this, it will make it less stressful on the judging, faster, and it would be by consensus, democratically, so (in theory) everyone should be OK with the results. Just remind everybody that this is a TALENT contest, not a POPULARITY contest... To keep the things unbiased and in perspective...
I wanted to write to this thread.Good luck guys! That's great news Colin!
Your house, your cards, your rules, lol. It really doesn't matter to me, I'm only in it for the fun, but since you asked, I agree with Kirk, let the judges, judge. It's been working fine for over a decade. You can always return the entry fees to unsatisfied entrants. Maybe have the finalists vote and have another category, "Finalist's Choice Award", and the prize can be 10x the entry fee lol, and bragging rights for a year.![]()
Cheers, Frank
I agree. I think it would just end up making things more confusing. But perhaps have a "people's choice" out of the finalist group like you had a couple of years back. Probably wouldn't be a prize at this point other than bragging rights as CFire said, but I would leave the overall finalists and top winners to be judged by the judges.
my 2cents
...or did I?
In theory I don't think it's a bad idea, but this way you can't filter out popularity, which is a completely natural thing in a community, so I think the judges' decision is more neutral.
