Thread: When did everyone start on Photoshop?

  1. #11
    CS3 or CS4 I think.

I'm still a beginner compared to everyone else here...

I took my initial training on 4.0.1 and started professionally with PS 6.

    Hi, Colin -
I started with Photoshop 3, and then upgraded with each new version. I don't know why I upgraded; I just liked PS so much that I just wanted to be up-to-date, I guess. I also liked all the new bells and whistles that came with each upgrade. I'm not that knowledgeable about everything that can be done within PS; I'd say I'm about 50% knowledgeable. I started subscribing to Photoshop User when I got PS 3, and I've been a loyal member of NAPP since then. I attend their roadshows whenever they venture to Portland.

4.5, 5 or 5.5 don't really remember the version. I just know I was about 12 years old and since then Photoshop is my favorite video game
Please see and comment my DC12 entry, thanks.

I think the first version I used was 3 around 1998-99 when I was in college. I had it on floppy disks (there were about 8 of them!).

    Started using it at 2.0

Didn't hit my stride until 4.0. If I remember correctly that was when they added layers. Changed my life forever.

    Cool

I remeber I loved to see abstract art from deviantart.com, those genius-made artworks make me want to create one of those nicely design piece myself...... so I pick up photoshop, of course, I live in China, the software is pirate one, which I bought from the market, the owner whom claim it is the real stuff.... hehehe whatever.....

Most importantly, I find the only source on the internet at that time, maybe still true now, the GENUINE tutorial magician is Colin aka the bossman, I CAN tell everyone that I learn all my PS skill from those very early tutorial from PhotoshopCafe, the tutorial was TREMENDOUSLY helpful, beautiful made, EXTREMELY easy to follow and understand, it is detailed yet no more no less; thoroughly well written; even the impatient me........ I am the SOB who absoFinglutely HATE BS and useless junks....... I still remember I HATE THOSE LONGWINDING 3D Tutorial I learn afterward when I finished my student career @PSC...... I throwed my monitor out the window and I kick hard at my DVD-ROM...... With all that I just want to say thank you Colin.... it is the only good memory I have learning any thing digital and perhaps everything else.

I bet golden retreiver dog can learn and know how to use PS with Colin's tuts.......

    Cheers
    Bryan
