    Mix,
You have gotten me curious about this now.

Certainly creating a pdf would be easier but EPUB is becoming the industry-standard file format for reflowable digital publications.
EPUB files requires you to set up your Indesign file differently.

    http://www.adobe.ca/products/indesign/epub/howto/

How is an EPUB eBook different from a PDF eBook?

The EPUB format is an XML-based format designed to enable text to reflow according to the capabilities of various eBook readers, which means that you can resize the text, change the font, or view an eBook on different screen sizes, and the text will reflow to fill the available view area. This makes the EPUB format the best choice for eBooks that are read on small handheld reading devices.

In contrast, PDF preserves the original layout of a document, giving you complete control over page design and presentation. PDF is the optimal choice for eBooks that have a complex design or will only be read on regular-sized computer screens.
Mix, try google search “how to create epub ebooks”
Maybe you can find some step by step tutorials.

Share with us what you have learned.

    Thanks
    Kathryn

will do kbr...and thx. i thought this was going to be easy too, as u know, we have figured out how to do interactive pdfs well enough, but epubs looks like another ball game, especially when you want to add some graphics and page decorations.

Yeah, Mix, EPUB is a whole different ball game. Not easy.
Yep, you once inspired my to give the Indesign interactive pdf a go.
Dang Mix, this gets way to techie for me.

This now makes me set some new goals.
I plan to upgrade to CS5 Premium soonish (in between my real work schedule.)
Looks like I will have a lot of catching up to do!

Touch back with us so we all can learn from YOU.

    Many thanks!

Well, this seems to be the definitive most understandable tut I have found to date:

Previous lesson goes into the format of epub, which you need to know I guess.
This is nothing short of a pain in the butt, and it seems that epub is the blueray for books...who knows if this format will be here next year or not. But for adventurous designers, perhaps this is a new revenue stream? It is for me, at least for one book

Well, that's what I figured...sure wish I could find an InD template with all the side files/output to examine. That's how I figure things out (reverse engineering). But will try from scratch and try to remember to post results of current book project here when done, cheers!
