eBook template / creation guide needed!

Hi all, I have to create and publish an ebook and know little about the genre except what I have seen on my iPhone. Can someone point me in the right direction to start creating and publishing an ebook. I am assuming that Indesign is the way to go, but not sure...auto gen of table of contents? Perhaps you start with a word doc as source? I have seen templates for the ebook covers in indesign, but not one for an entire book...hmmm, K, are u out there still? thx!!!

I have never created an ebook.

I googled the topic and found an excellent link to get started.
They use Indesign to create and then Export for Digital Edition. It’s a .epub file.
It’s little bit more involved so view the videos and the resource links.

Hey guys... I just created mine in Pages on a mac. It's not a fancy ebook or anything... just a simple PDF I believe.

thx bd for the input! i'm trying to view the adobe videos but they play so slowly here it's just painful. I was just hoping to find a best practices template in InDesign and call it a day. the PDF guides in KRBs last post are okay, but they are more like tip sheets re: the EPub format. I guess it's one of these things u just do, and learn from the school of hard knocks. cheers!
