Thoughts on the rest of the CS5 Suite

I started this because of mixed's comment on the Photoship CS5 thread and didn't want to hijack the topic

In Cs3 or even 4, I would have taken the job seriously cause it would have just been one big pain in the bum...but everything went smoothly and renders were much faster on new imac. Dynamic linking and Media Encoder actually work now! I was really surprised, as I did not expect much in that regard. Next going to try and use Encore to create the DVDs...gave up on that years ago as I always need to use subtitles...maybe this go around it will actually do the job...I'm encouraged now that I am using in production...good luck!
I also just completed a big project in Premiere CS5
I used it to edit this title

I also edited and encoded 2 others in CS5 and it has been very stable. Even AME didn't crash. Crazy factoid. Adobe Media Encoder was "way" faster than Sorenson squeeze for H.264. I never thought I would see the day.

Cool, is the H.264 quality as high as Sorenson or FCP? I wasn't completely happy with it in CS4.

Yes it\'s true, CS5 PPRO is way better then CS4

I just completed post production on a CS4 project that was brought in by client, working, but barely. AME would not spit out a decent file, no matter what the settings.

So I just converted the CS4 project to CS5, re-rendered, and all is just fine. Very fast and good results. I take back all the horrible things I said about PPRO in the past (but Adobe deserved it) as it seems they have a decent NLE now.

    Cheers!

for h.264 output I see no difference in output between CS5 and FCP (just had to test that). So it seems they fixed that!

Ha! I guess so. I just hate crap software that costs loads of money, bizarre bloat functions, or anything that gets in the way of creativity. But I should lighten up, after all, it's just a computer. cheers!
