Smaller Screen Res

So, I got Photoshop for Mac, but my problem is that my screen res is smaller than what is officially supported. Is there any way around this? Unless you people know how to force Snow Leopard to resize the screen to whatever I want (supported or not), I have to make PS itself allow a smaller res.

so your computer won't support higher resolutions? are you using a netbook by chance?
plugging in an external monitor should be an effective work around.
