POSER 8 and ps cs4 extended help

Hello all, i am a graphic designer that works predominantly in print. I would like to start exporting 3d models into ps as 3d layered files and using them in my designs. I'm using POSER 8 and I have a couple questions:

Does anyone know the best render settings for printing?

When I open a 3d layer of a human in ps and try to move it...photoshop either takes forver to process or locks up?

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not married to POSER or anything so if anyone has a better suggestion for a 3D app that integrates better with ps cs4 please let me know. Sorry for the long post but ive been at this for a couple weeks now and have found no anwer.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi there

First of all, are you aware of this DVD?
    http://www.photoshopcafe.com/video/p...shop_poser.htm

I would use low settings in Photoshop for positioning etc. When you are satisfied with everything, then kick it up to raytrace for rendering.

The doc will need to be 300ppi to look any good when printed

    Hello

    Hi,

Make sure that when you are working with any 3D model in CS4 that you avoid using "Ray Traced" as an rendering intent located in your 3D Scene panel.

This will slow down you progress tremendously because CS4 is trying to give you a final render of all of your surface setting on the fly. Use instead "Solid" as the rendering intent.

Let me know if this answers your question.

    Good Luck,
    Stephen Burns

Kiwi: Thanks for the link to the dvd. Im wondering if the tuts will work for poser 8 seems like the descriptions talk about poser pro and ps.

chrome: Dude...i set my preset to solid in my 3d panel and whatta you know it actually worked!! kudos bro—you have no idea how much this is gonna help me. Couple more questions if you dont mind: Would you happen to know ideal render settings and render dimensions in POSER 8 before i export into ps? And why is it when i bring in my model as a .dae it comes in sideways?

I think the stuff on the disk is pretty much the same as 8? Chrome is actually the author of the DVD, he can answer that

    Hi

The Render settings that you choose actually depends on the output that you need. Click on the Render tab then click on the resolution dimensions shown on the top right corner of the Render window. Click on the "Render to Exact Resolution". Now you can custom set your resolution in pixels or inches.

    I hope that this helps.

Also, I am finishing up the "Intoduction Poser 8" DVD today so keep an eye out for it on Photsohop Cafe.

    Enjoy,
    Stephen Burs

    Hi Steve...

I am actually following the Poser/Photoshop integration DVD (Just finished lesson 6) and your book is on order so I expect that soon to.

A Question. The script that you mention. Is it going to be supported in Poser Pro 2010? It is no longer on the content paradise site. I did leave a note asking Smith Micro about it also.

Also, is there a way to get the same effect with COLLADA? It seems that COLLADA has become the industry norm but you skipped over it in your DVD...

I use Poser Pro 2010 and Photoshop CS4 extended on my iMac (3GHz-RAM 4GB NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS 512 MB - Mac OS 10.6.4). I recently visited Stephen Burns's site and bought the video training on Poser and Photoshop. I also have his book on the same topic. Moreover, I ordered his book on Photoshop CS4 and FX (that I haven't received yet). I also read the free pdf on CS4 on this site.

Despite all those very useful resources, I could not manage to import into Photoshop what I want from Poser Pro 2010. However hard I tried in different ways, I could not install Stephen Burns's script Poser7ContentExporter in order to get exactly what he shows in his video.

If I export in obj format, I only get the greyish sculpted character; if I use Collada, then I get a dae plus jpg and png, but no mtl, so when I look at the Photoshop CS 4 panel for 3D, all elements in 3D Scenes and 3D Mesh are greyed out. I suppose this is due to the lack of mtl file. Is there a workaround? I really need to be able to export from Poser Pro and get the files to work in Photoshop CS 4. This will be the essential base of some work I will be doing for months to come, so I imperatively need this function to work as Stephen shows in his video tutorial.

Besides, for a reason I do not know, Bridge CS 4 freezes when I want to display an obj file. There is no preview image displayed with the undelying cursor. This too puzzles me.

Thank you for answering my queries (Stephen's e-mail link does not work any longer on his site).
