Help making a forum signature(partial background?)

Alright so I just started using photoshop again, and i've forgotten nearly everything I learned while I was in college, im trying to make a forum signature where the picture looks as if its coming out of the top of the signature, help?

Like a transparent background? Just make a .png image to keep it transparent.

Yep, just cut the top of your image around your guy...
