Am I losing my mind or did CS4 ID change?

I just started a project in ID CS4, the first one in this new version, and the first thing right off the bat I noticed is that I can no longer can select & manipulate layers in a PS file after placing. I can select the ones I want before the import, but not after. I could have sworn I was able to do that before - ie. In CS3, use the same PS linked file but different layers, and be able to adjust on the fly - am i crazy or what? thx,
    coocoo
ps. If I am crazy, then this coocoo wants that function in CS5.

    CooCoo. Hi!

Grab another cup of coffee, take a break.
No problems on my end with CS4.

Even with the quickie drag/drop a layered psd file onto a page, I can edit layered psd and turn on/off visibility of a layer and update link at will.

Black arrow select your image in InD.
    Object>Layer Options.
Turn on/off the visibility of a specific layer.

    How did you Placed?
Did you have Show import options checked if you used InD>Edit>Place?

Hmmm… Is your psd file linked or embedded?
    Look at your Links Panel.

    Hope that helps.
Let me know if that works for you.

Glad you got it to work.

I really figured it was Object>Layer Options thingie.

CS4 really beefed up Links panel. Lots of changes there.

Get some rest. All is well.

now the problem is this: try and apply a screen to a layer of text as the bottom layer of the PSD file. it does not screen. or multiply, or any other fX. arg.

Not sure what you are trying to do now without looking at both psd and Ind files.

Best to do live text and effects in InD.
Photoshop and InD have different text engines you know.

Hmmm....Also try opening you InD Effects panel.
Set live text in InD then apply InD Effects.

i think it's the font. keyboard plaque. it shows up in package as an error. says font status: incomplete. never seen that one. appears fine in PS and in InD. i can print the linked PSD files just fine with this font. Font is critical to the doc. Will post WIP soon, but this rots.

Incomplete fonts have a screen font on the current computer but not a corresponding printer font.

    Also known as "Orphan" fonts.

I have been sent some of those fonts in a packaged document.
Font Agent Pro just throws them into Problem fonts folder> Unmatched screen fonts.

    This may help explain.

Ha - beefed. I'm vegan...and I hate when Adobe adds all that meat to something that tasted just fine in the first place.
