I don't know how I missed this. Great work Barry.

I love how your eye can wonder around discovering things and I love the typography tie-in "W" to the illustration, nice touch.

Very nice Barry, I really like the text treatment and the framing. Is the man in the moon a character in the story? Because that schnozz makes him fairly prominent (a prominent proboscis so to speak ).

    Looks good Barry...
Children of today are vastly different and far more aware than we were as little tackers, therefore more in touch with reality, I don’t think the spider is a problem as they make the web – don’t they!

Maybe if you duplicate the web part that’s in front of the moon and darken it just a tad, so you can see a faint outline of the web, and perhaps soften the shape of the moon’s nose, as I think it looks just a little to ‘human’ for Mr Moon.

Thanks all. Interesting comments... this is a WIP used to support the submission of the manuscript to the publisher, so there are likely to be tweaks.

Digfects, it's always difficult creating for kids... how sophisticated can it get, and the temptation is to use imagery and devices that I (we older blokes) remember, and I think the trick is to try to tie that old stuff to newer concepts that weren't around then. The other aspect to consider is that it's always a good idea to appeal to parents as well, as they often are the ones to read to the kids.

    Interesting challenges.

Yes, you got the parent bit right!

I'm sure with your skills and insight you will nail it!

Hah! Thanks for the vote of confidence!
Fortunately, the emails I've received from kids (and parents) who've enjoyed my books tells me that I've nearly got it buttoned down!
