Here's a first for me... illustrating a childrens fairytale for a book. Here's the first test spread. C&C welcome.

Love the framing and the fairies. Only thing, don't you think it's a scary looking spider for children?

Looks good. I really like the framing of the picture. The way you laid out the text and the font looks wonderful. As always nice work.

Colin... I had actually given the spider a smiling face, but the author felt that the fairies all look comfortable enough with the spider to convey the message that the spider wasn't threatening. But I agree that it may not be resolved yet.

The layout looks great, fantastic work. I do agree with the spider though, that's what I had immediately thought, even I would feel a little scared!

Hah! Maybe living in South Africa, I'm used to spiders! Besides, there are lots more things here way scarier than spiders!

Awesome work Barry. Love the layout! I think had it been 10years or so ago I would say the spider is too scary for littlens, but now days I have seen worse. More so clowns, cause they are scary anyway!
