    What does this icon mean?!

Last night I was working on three images in Photoshop CS3, they'd been saved as psds. When I tried to re-open them on the main document list page, two of them were just little white squares with a dog ear up in the right hand corner, with a blue bounding box inside, three tiny buttons at top right side and three minute images in red blue and green within the blue bounding box.

When I clicked on them, they refused to budge! Wouldn't open, no text explaining why, nothing! I had this a couple of times before, but when I asked my local computer guy what they were, he told me he wasn't familiar with Photoshop and didn't know! I live in Thailand by the way, so bit difficult to get information here ...

Please help! I spent hours on those images, and I think they might've been quite nice

Sawadee kup tamsin! I live in nepal and while i don't have a clue about what u are going on about, I go to thailand all the time to shop, and will be there in a few weeks for a spree. Do u live in BKK? I am looking for things like Studio Lighting, cameras, accessories, software, all of that kinda geeky stuff that we all go on about here. It would be nice to hook up with another person that likes these toys - I bet u know the best places. I go to fotofile in MBK - but i am sure they are not the lowest for cameras...i need to find a wholesaler...ha! cheers!

    iconzzzz

I mwsnapped the icon, but can't get it to load into this reply box However, I thought my powers of description were rather good (I really need some decent tutoring - You got time to nip down to Phuket MixedUp?)

Fotofile is where most of the locals get their gear, but for alternatives you might try looking at a forum called thaivisa.com and go to the Photography forum, there's a couple of posters there who've been around a while and can give you some very good advice! Don't look at the rest of the forum though - the bunfight would put anyone off ever visiting here

Okay, I decifered what the icon is - the file u are looking at is an un-associated filetype, meaning that your OS does not know what kind of file it is, hence clicking on it will do nothing but bring up the dialog box that says "Windows cannot open the file" right? Wrong according to your description, but that's what should happen if u are using XP and ur XP is healthy. Can u right mouse click, select properties, then on the General tab click Change and scroll down to Photoshop select that? If PS is not in the list u may have to select "Browse..." instead and navigate to the dir where PS is, and then select Photoshop.exe with the checkbox "Always use the selected program..."

All of that should do the trick for your unassociated filetype. There is another way too, but try that one first and get back to us for further instructions.

So, ur in Phuket! I usually go that way just to get to the beach for a few days between trips to the malls in BKK, but this time I am visiting my aid worker friend in Chiang Mai jungle...tentative...I think id much rather get an underwater case with the G9 and go to Ko Samui and take some photos of fish and whatnot. So fotofile IS where locals go...i thought that, as there prices are good for downtown BKK and u can't beat the service. I am a member of thaivisa but as u say, it's just butt-flappin there. Anyway, I will look u up the next time I am down that way...I remember now u posted some pics of your place a long time back...south tland is so great...every nepalese dream to retire there and own a bar on the beach. that was my plan until my family decided to get some land in a village here...so instead i think i will be herding goats and growing a bit of rice soon if i am lucky.
    Cheers,

Hi MixedUp - Tried the right click on the icon-in-box thing - though tried that before to try to open/move/pray, so clicked on the reveal in explorer as the only available option shown, and yes! the list did come up, but no! no option for change or browse under the general tab, but it the bigger blue bounded box with the Big Red Button with a cross on it appeared on the Photoshop workspace with the text 'not right kind of document', which I've had once or twice before, and gave up with it.

But would like to open these latest ones, I mean, where on earth could they have gone? Must be on the hard drive somewhere if I haven't deleted them?

So you may have to come down to photo fish and do it for me after all No, I know you'll be having too much fun in Pantip Plaza

Be grateful if you could tell me the 'other option' for retrieving masterpieces

Hmmmm. Member of TV are you? Which nic? S'okay, you don't have to tell
