reduce or loose padding in text table

I am making a menu which I recently did in photoshop which was a nightmare. Now I have it in indesign and have a line of text and price per table cell so I can delete cells when things get taken off the menu and tab to the cells to edit items also. the question is when I had it in photoshop I could reduce leading right down to help squeeze the whole list on a page if it went over. In indesign if I reduce leading but the table cells stop it where there must be a padding of some sort in the table/cell but I cant find it anywhere to allow small fine leading of my text?. I am also right in saying I cant import shaped cut outs from photoshop, they arrive in ind with added white making it a rectangle?
    Many thanks

You probably need to change the top, bottom, left or right inset for the cells. If you have either a row or column selected it will bring up the Control Palette for the table. Within that Control Palette in the lower right corner is an icon that you can click on which brings up the Table Palette (click on it). In the lower half of the Table Palette are the four options to change the top, bottom, left and right inset.
