    reducing opacity on parts of an image

    Hi,

    how do i reduce the opacity on parts of an im age, i have tried selecting part of the image with the marque tool and then reducing the opacity but it still reduces it for the full image.

    Hi 9a! Opacity and Fill are layer controlled, so just make a new layer out of the part you want to change, and control that bit.Depending on what effect you want, you may have to cut the bit from the layer below so you can do an opacity change to transparent. But the point is, get the bit you want to manipulate onto it's own layer, then there are lots of options. Try those layer Fx and see what happens! good luck. ps. Welcome to the Cafe!

    You could create a mask and then adjust the opacity/percentage of the brush to achieve the desired affect. Brush the areas you want to see through.
