Here's a problem i got and can't fix it.
Everytime i start my laptop there's an explorer (Not IE) window opening. After i click it away, there's nothing going on. When i start the laptop again it's back?
Does anybody know how to get rit of that window??
I use a legal XP version!

everybody is watching, but nobody has an answer......
I looked at the net , and couldn't find anything about it. Maybe someone had it before too....

Hmmm, not sure but check in your start menu and see if there's an ie icon in there and if so remove it. Hope that helps?

Theres nothing there, looked already. In the earlier version there could be something in the config.sys, but there isn't anymore.....
Can't find anything in the registry, and don't really know where to look.

I was told before of a benign virus that can actually open a(or 10000, depending on the virus programmer) notepad upon starting up comp that anti virus program can't detect it either..
Might not be the same case though.
I would however recommend a spyware/adware/antivirus thorough scan asap.
Does the window pop up in safe mode too?
Next other step i would actually download hijackthis and see if there's any abnormalities running in my system that would cause something like this happening.

Last night i run Hitman Pro on the machine, didn't find a thing. Hijackthis is something to try...

should be an easy fix by seeing where/what is starting up explorer. download startup organizer from metaproducts.com to see where the call is being made. there is also an option in folder views to restart an open explorer window on boot, maybe that's stuck. sounds like something in the registry is hosed.
or alternately run msconfig from a command prompt to view startup items. u can then use selective startup/diagnostic startup to isolate what's calling explorer.exe. good luck!

In addition to what mixedupmacandpc said, you might want to down load systernals (now microsofts) process explorer tool its free. You might want to nab a few of the others as well or just get the first file that has all the tools.
