    Freehand drawing

I'm starting to realize that if I want to start making higher quality professional prints, I'm just going to have to master the wonderful world of Illustrator.

One thing I'm having some problems with is the freehand drawing. I (on countless occasions) will have a great line going with, say, the brush tool and right before I end it I somehow screw it up. Is there a particular mouse, technique or anything that you guys have found to work?

I've been looking at some AMAZING vector work and it has made me oh-so-jealous.

    Thanks in advance!

Double click on your Paintbrush or Pencil tool. Check the tool preferences options.

I have Keep Selected checked. I turned OFF Edit Selected Paths.

See if that works better for you.

I personally find (default) Edit Selected Paths WHILE I am drawing or painting to be obnoxious. When I am finished, I then go back and edit.

TheDoc, when you stated you somehow screwed up while drawing, the Keep Selection option came to mind.

The first few times I used the Brush and Pencil, I got so frustrated with the paths constantly being reshaped as I quickly drew with the Wacom.
When I draw, I draw. When I edit, I edit. I do not get the logic of having a brush set to both draw and edit at the same time. That is just my 2¢

You will love Illustrator once you get into it. Have fun while you are learning.
