Actions in Photoshop
I have 300 pictues and I want to add my logo on the bottom, can someone telll me how to write an action to do this for all the pics. Thanks
open photoshop. make sure there are no documents open.
click the record button in the actions pallette.
go to file>open
open the file of your logo (i'm assuming it's already the right size)
go to file>open
open one of the images. (don't worry about this now, we are going to go back and edit this step later.)
go to windows>your_logo_window
select all, copy
go to windows>your_picture
paste (should paste on to a new layer.)
select all (make sure the logo layer is highlited)
select the move tool
in the options pallette (the bar accross the top), click on align right edges, then click on align bottom edges. if you are unsure as to which ones these are, wait until you get a mouseover tooltip. (im not sure what the exact names of the buttons are, but the end result is that the logo is in the bottom right hand corner. if you click a wrong button, you can go back and delete that step out of the action later, so don't stress.)
go to file>save as.
save it as whatever you like.
close all windows (but leave photoshop open)
click the stop button on the actions pallette.
go back to the step where you opened the image (not your logo. the other one.) there should be what looks like a checkbox to the left of it. if you click in the checkbox, a little form thingy should fill it up. this means that when this step of the action is run, it will ask you to manually do it. (in this instance, it will show you the open dialogue, and ask which file you want to open, when you run it.)
go through and (carefully) delete any mistakes you made, by highliting the step, right-clicking, and selecting "delete".
give the action a meaningful name, such as "logo placement, bottom right." this step is just as important, as, by the sound of things, you will be using it quite a bit. a meaninful name will help to remind you what exactly the action does. (more than an action named "blah" ever would.)
finally, hit play, to test the action.
have a play around, see what you can learn.
