Thread: Camera Dilema

  1. #11
no i hear the xt kit lens is a worse. Target, being where i work, also carries canon lenses so i guess i could get 10% off all of those as well.

I didnt consider lense cost but with either camera wouldnt i eventually want a new lense either way? grr im still so full of questions and wonder.

i really appreciate the help (im already stressing over this decision and i still have til may)

another thing is (after holding it for about 20 mins) the d40 being so short (up and down length) leaves out a peice of the body for my ring and pinky finger to grip and this got very uncomfortable.

But then after holding the canon for about 5 minutes the lack of rubber around the handgrip started to feel funny (this being while playing with the menu) but while actualy holding the camera to shoot it felt nice because my left hand (around the lense) was holding the cameras weight.

Is the 350d kit lense that bad?

I have had a 350D (Rebel XT) for 6 months now and have had a few great results with it an 8 MP camera will blow up to A3 with no loss of detail what so ever, the kit lens is not the greatest and with nikon you do get a great kit lens. I think it all comes down to which direction you want to go, Nikon, Canon, Pentax etc, the camera is only half the problem, once you start buying the lenses then you are stuck with your choice of camera as they are not cheap. I am very happy with Canon.
