    question

I tend to make everything myself, buttons for website, the lot.
But I do use existing art in my fantasy creations, I don't make money out of them. Most of the time the painters died centuries ago, so how about that?? Is it ripping too??
I mean, there are lots of tuts on internet where they use existing art to work with.

Well that's not ripping, as long as you give credit to the author from whom you have "borrowed" that material. That's my opinion.

Not true, art can be owned even in the distant future. Look at Mickey Mouse, the copyright was going to run out so Disney paid to have it extended so they wouldn't lose their brand.

Maybe if you aren't doing it for money it is a grey area, but it is still a tough place to play in.

that's a job for lawyers. But when I try to implement a piece of another artist, I just feel that the final design isn't mine. Don't know why, though.
