I just bought the Olympus CM4000ZOOM and I love it...it was about 450.00 and the 128MB stick was 79.99.

It has 4.0 Megapixels, a timer, the good kinda zoom so you can get close ups, and all kindsa other neat functions. Works very well, right out of the box, but you can also mess with settings to take pictures of your own.

    Sample shots:

Go to http://www.dpreview.com and look through the site. It is awesome and has tons of reviews, I am sure you can find what you want. Make sure you find a reputable dealer and by all means stay away from grey market items. Your in for a great time.

have you made your choice yet?

The Olympus is a nice camera and has some decent features. The only drawback is its sensitivity 80-320 asa. It's good for most things but suffers in low-light shots.

    It's a good buy.

For a little bit more you could go to the Minolta d414 or the Nikon 3500. The nikon has a faster lens and the Minolta offers more options in a 4.0 megapixel.

One of my digital cameras and possibly my favorite is my Canon Powershot s110. You can pick one up for around $300-400 and it takes excellent pictures. It is absolutely tiny and all metal. Great camera!

I'll take a couple of snapshots and post them here. It takes great pictures. The only problem I've had is that in certain low-light conditions, the pics can come out blurry. But those shots are few and far between. I'll round up some photos and post them here soon.

    And here we go....

Most of these are outdoor shots. They all look a little dark because of the jpeg compression in PS. Other than cropping them for size, none of the images have been altered. They were all shot with the camera set to Auto for everything. If you are a bit of a control freak, you can manually set many options. Camera also takes panoramic shots and movies. It comes with a rechargeable battery, (huge plus in my book), extrenal charger and a 32MB compact flash card (and needed cables). The battery lasts forever on a single charge. Great camera. It's size alone makes it a joy to own.
(the cat is my 23lbs. Manecoon...Boo)
