    curves/levels

i'm not too clear on how curves and levels work in photoshop.

i mean...i know it picks certain parts of the picture and lightens it up, but i have no idea how to tweak it to my advantage. i just sort of drag random sliders and see what happens. if i dun like it, i'll just put it back where it was:P.

can anyone explain what they actually do?

Adjusting curves is much like adjusting levels, although a bit subtler. U can use the curves instead of the levels dialog box to adjust the brightness. The big difference is that instead of sdjusting at only three points black, mid, and white you can adjust at any point. hope this helps.

we use curves sometimes to brighten or tune of colours of a photo, sometimes the photo has bad lighting and the pp in it looks yellowish etc.. also when the photo is too old n needs some colour/brightness to it, or when the photo is too dark. clicking the auto for curves do work wonders
