    giving text an embroidered look

Hi folks, I just recently signed up here cuz I have a noob question.

I'm Photochopping some custom arm patches for a halloween costume and I could use some help.

Basically, I'm copying patches used in a movie. These patches were both modified versions of pre-existing patches, one from a real soviet space program, and one taken from another movie.

I've got good images of both patches, and have 70-80% of the mods done already.

I'm having trouble changing the text on one though. Most of what I've done is probably the long way around, and was discovered by trial and error, but I'm happy with the results thusfar. I'd like to make the text on the one patch look as though it was really embroidered onto the image, and short of copy/paste and some longhand clone stamping, I can't figure out a way. I've even tried to find a font that looks like embroidery, but to no avail.

Can anyone offer a suggestion, point me to a tutorial, or help me find a decent font that looks like embroidered block letters?

    Thanks in advance,

    -Mutt

oops, forgot to add that I'm using Photoshop CS/v8

You may try going to http://www.thewebmachine.com/

Click on the Illustrator link. Ther is an embroided type tutorial on the left side of the screen. This may help you even if you do not have Illustrator. I used some of the settings and was able to come up with this.

Thanks Spectraflame, that is just what I was needing for an embroidered effect, I think it can be done in PS or something similar at least, the sample in the "webmachine" is almost like a photo, and your sample came out just great too. !

And thanks to Skymutt for having made the question
