My first ever website - finished at last !!

    Hi everyone !!

    Here's my website, finally finished...

    Kat's Paws

I'd love to hear any comments about it (please remember though, I've only been using Photoshop CS and Dreamweaver MX 2004 for about 5 months and this is my first ever site - so go fairly easy on me!!)

It's only on a test site at the mo - should be at the correct address in a few days...

Look forward to hearing your comments !!

    Cheers,

    Kat

    Hi there

I've just started web design too. The only thing I would say is that some of the bevel/emboss's take away from the design.

How did you create the contact section (is php requireds for this???), where they input their details and then send it to you????

Also, do you know how to incorporate a link so that they can download a pdf or word file to their computer

    Hi kitty,

    You're very purple, aren't you?
I like the design.. how you play with emboss/bevel and that cute font.

But, do you see some mistakes in the "design" and "faq" pages? Something wrong, isn't it?

One more thing. Why don't you make an online order?

Hey your site looks great !
I love the colours ! Purple is my favorite !!!
And quite frankly this is a great work considering this is only your first...

Although you could make the buttons a little round...

    I'd rate it 7/10

One more question. How did you make the pop up window?

Hey guys - thanx for the feedback !!

Purple - yeah, favourite colour (although never wear it - doesn't suit me!!)

thelobst > > Bevel & Emboss - umm, okay, you rumbled me - one of the few techniques I've managed to 'master' (if you can call it that!!!), that and drop shadow!!!

ndableg > > Errors? I know there are a couple of typos on the FAQ page that need sorting - - - the designs page? You'll hafta' point that one out to me - I've got to the point with the site that I've been staring at it for so long I see what I want to see and not what's actually there !!

Nikhil > > 7/10?? wow!! thank you!! Will be looking to update the site in a while, once I've learnt more techniques, so will try the rounded edges for the buttons then. I'm so glad I've finished it now that I just wanna get on with making the stationery - that's the part I love !!

Thanks, everyone, for taking the time to have a look and post your comments!!

See a line between your sign "Kat's Paws" and "Handmade"? It cuts the letter H of Handmade. Perhaps it happens cos i browse it with firefox..

    Kudos Purple Kitty!

Its clear, clean and easy to nav, I'd say you've done a kat scratch'n good job!

As for the bevel etc, I think it works good, it makes the buttons and images standout just right, I think this keeps them from kinda washing in with the rest of the soft colors etc. IMHO

Job well done ! This calls for a Guinness!

    BTW love the new avtar!

    Thanks DasBear & FX77 !! I'm so flattered !!

I'm glad you like my new avatar !! & I'm pleased that you like my site too !!

ndableg > > hmmm, as far as I was aware the site layout was fine in firefox - maybe not... will look into that and see what's wrong... thanks for the feedback !! Oh, and for my pop-ups I used Colin's book - I used the 'hotspots' in dreamweaver and also used to behaviors tab to open new browser windows.

thelobst > > sorry I didn't reply to your questions before!! Yep, the contacts page is created in php - I used the layout in Colin's book as a guide and then saved the page as a php after it was all complete (there is loads of new code to put in aswell, which was done for me by my host server... html scares me and I always seem to miss out an important < or / !! In terms of the links to word files etc... if you mean in the way that I did it I just saved the file in my Dreamweaver website folder and created a link in the site... I don't know if your question was more complicated than that?!

I hope I've answered all the questions - I used Colin's book for the entire duration of building my site so any techniques I've used are to be credited to Mr Smith!!

So, FX77 - Guinness all round is it?? Can I have blackcurrant in mine??
