Thread: THE REDESIGN IS OVER

    THE REDESIGN IS OVER

Some of you know me well enough to know that i'm obsessive compulsive about everything being perfect with my designs. My site has undergone a vast overhaul from scratch in around 2 months. After 53 beta builds, this one is gonna stay (I think ) . This is my expression, this is my artform. And I would like to share it with you.

If you have critism, please make it constructive, I have literally put BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS INTO THIS DESIGN. As allways, peace, and long live the cafe!

very nice!! I really like the background images! The only suggestion would be to make your entrance image clickable rather than just the text but that's jmo
    great job

Well, I will try to be constructive here ...

First thing is, having to scroll right is a big "no-no" in the web design bizz. Your main image is nice, but you could crop that whole right side off and make it fit on the screen.

Second, it took me ten minutes to figure out where the "enter" link was -- another big "no-no", cause if I wasn't there to check it out I would have left right away.

Also, once I found the enter link and clicked on it, it took forever to load on my 56K connection.

Once inside I found I had to scroll right again. My suggestion would be when you design for the web I always go about 700 pixels wide, that way everything will fit on the screen.

Most of the pages there was nothing but "Content go here."

I'm sorry to be so critical, but I'm a real stickler for web design, since it's what I do for a living. I think a web site should have a "definition" or at least a solid "purpose" other than just a bunch of pages to display some work.

I did like your choice of background images, though. Just get them to fit on the screen.

Statistically speaking, the majority of people who browse the Web do not like to scroll right on a page. Up and down is one thing, but having to scroll right is annoying.

Just something I have learned after designing web sites for a while.

can I ask what resolution you are viewing this site at? At 1024X768 with a maximized browser window, it looks just fine to me. The site was designed for that resolution, and is a requirment (even though I havent posted it yet on the splash page) I can see this problem at 800X600, but dont know of the problem at 1024X768. In terms of the 56k thing, sorry, I guess I am discriminating against the low bandwidth users out there, but I figure most people have upgraded to cable or dsl. The enter link will be changed, and the image will be clickable as well. And, I dont have content right now, because I was just finishing up the main layout as of last night. But I thank you for your comments.

Looks real good! A tad hard on the eyes to read (or just to stay focused in one spot)

But yes it is getting a unique, interesting feel!
