How do you make text wrap around a circle please?

Hello, I am pretty new to Photoshop but am hooked already!

I am trying to make my text go round in a circle - How do I do this? I would be very grateful if some could spare 2 minutes to explain it.

Lots of discussion about this, but unforunately, your choices are very limited.

a) Do it in Illustrator or another program and import;
b) Build it by hand;
c) Wait for PS8 which has text paths; or
d) Rasterize your text layer, center your text to your canvas, and run a polar coordinates: recangular to polar on it.

This last one affects the font, so is not recommended. The first one is best.

As far as I know you can't do that yet in Photoshop -- sorry.

If you have Adobe Illustrator you can wrap text around a circle in that program. If you have Illustrator then try the tutorial on this page:

create a new file a make sure the canvas is square and that the text reaches both ends of the canvas ( just crop it after you type ) and is centered vertically, then the distort polar coordinates filter will warp it into a circle

You can get pretty close in PS 7 using the text warp feature. Put half of your text on one layer and use the text warp feature, choose arc and set the bend to %100 percent. Put the rest of your text on another layer apply the text warp again with the same settings and the choose Edit>Transform Flip Horizontal and then Edit>Transfor>Flip Vertical. Then just use the Move Tool and the up and down arrows to line them up. If you're looking for perfection then use Illustrator or Freehand.

OR, you can put each letter on a seperate layer, use free transform, and place each letter separately.

Best bet is Illu. or Quark or maybe Indesign...for a more crisp look for text design! but for this Illu. is a better recommendation!

You can do this in PS but it's very time consuming.

Put a guide line in the center of your circle one vertically and one horizontally.
Type you first letter at the top of your circle and Ctrl+ T to transform, grab the crosshair(target) in the middle of your transform box and drag it down over the 2 guide lines and then just rotate the letter to where you want it, the only problem is if you have a bunch of letters it takes a while but does a nice job.
If they're not perfect you can just use the transform to adjust each letter because they'll be on seperate layers and when you're happy you can merge them and then transform them as a whole.
