    Website for my Business

Hey guys I am new to the forum. I have been looking around the forum for a while now trying out tutorials, learned the basic html, and also how to use Dreamweaver. A gave it a try and tried to make my company site (dont like the look at all). I would like to see what you guys recoment that I do. There is just something about the layout I dont like.

    Welcome to the boards!

I would tone down the greens a tad by adding more muted tones. Greys and tans will help to do this. The overall layout is fine, and you might want to even try and mover the logo to the right side of the screen versus the left. I like the navigation to jump out at me, and since we read from left to right, moving the logo might accomplish a bit more effectively.

Great start, and keep up updated on the progress.

Thanks for the help. I was thiking...the black is not to profesional right? And i was planning on adding more Buttons (links..etc but with the setup i did im pretty stuck. I was looking at the interface tutorials and like the look allot. You think something like that will look good for what i am doing? Please guys throw some ideas and critique all you want. Hopefully I will get better.

I am partial to minimalistic styling on web sites. That means less glitz on the links and hence text should be fine with a more basic background. That also means you can fit more into that top navbar. Try a different type of button and see what you get. What background is always preferrable for me on this type of project as well.

do you guys think this is ok for my first site?? Dont you think the white background will make it look to plain Since I dont have much info on the main page?

I really think black or white, it will look plain until there is more content. For what that's worth.

    plain is often good...

my latest design is four lightblue boxes on a dark background

    banner
    menu
    content
    menu

simple but effective... if you arnt havng much content make the layout smaller

i dont like the green (try blue, its the "in-colour")
and the flash- its just a bit unprofessional

try making it by hand, a smaller compact layout, different colours and less fancy stuff if you get my meaning

oh and you need better alignment

    I'd try with:

    dark grey page background
    toned down greens
css to format the text that in this way isn't good looking

and first of all....the website is too heavy for slow connections....too much flash imho

I'd say you have the right idea but instead of a black background I'd go with a dark gray, maybe 1D1D1D or somewhere around their. Dark colors dont really portray what your site is about.

I think you did a pretty good job with it though, Your layout is good. Your alignment is a little off.

Good job, I cant think of much else to suggest, which I guess is good :P.
