Metal Pipes.....??

I've seen the tutorial on segmented pipes but was wondering if anybody could help me out with normal metal looking pipes...any tutorials u could point me too or anything u could suggest to help me out would be great......thanks

Just make a rectangular selection and selcect the Gradient tool (using a reflected gradient) going from black to white to black, drag a line from top to bottom of your selection (holding shift will constrain the drag to a straight line). That's it, good luck. btw~You can then add a brushed metal effect (I think Colin has a tut for it in his tut section) or add a bit of color by pressing Ctl/Cmd + U for hue & saturation (make sure you check the box for "colorize") and playing wit the sliders until you get the color you want.
