Splash or not to splash - that is the question!

Basically was wondering what everyone thought about splash screens on sites - in this case my portfolio. Now as the site is nearly finished in version 0.4 I want it looking the best it can! I would be thinking of having something along the lines of the coming soon page on http://www.mattywall.co.uk. Do you think its worth it? Or do you just think I should go straight to the page?

Any input would be appreciated.

if you decided on a splash page, have it in html with a flash backing so it can load the next page in the background. A splash is a good thing on a Flash site so it gives a user the ability to dl Flash if need be.

I like them, if they'red very simple it intrigues them, if their very OTT it hypes them up - basically good pep-up for viewers.
