American TV compared with UK TV (not standard quality of picture)

Why does american TV look so...bright an taccy when we get re-runs of CNN on bbc any stuff it looks so grainy and bright, this isn't because they are archieved footage either because I've watched american TV ...in American and its the same.. Whereas british TV looks a differnt colour and differnt quality...just differnt really....and I thought it might of been lighting etc but when Uk cameras goto america it looks completly dif...why?

    oh why why why?!

NTSC = Never The Same Colour.

Sorry to our American pals. I heard that one years ago and it still seems to be the best description.

PAL is a much better format just as Beta is a WAY better format than VHS. Unfortunately in both cases popularity wins over quality.

i just love the adverts in america where they shout at you telling you to buy their stuff... or the cds "with over 100 of your favourite tunes" and then all the song titles scroll down as clips are played.. all the time in america *sigh*

I just love those health freak adverts with the meat heads pumping hard on some 'flex-expanso' or 'wigglefit' contraption or whatever, all the time fixing their blatantly steriod emotionally stunted stares at the camera with a I've an I'm got hemmoriods smile fixed with artificially whitened teeth.

Makes you wonder how society got so goofed up.

It just seems that the difference between UK and USA telly is that USA is always more...extreme. bigger emotions bigger budget, over the top everything...pushing fast paced action to fast paced lives. Shame...., not to say the uk isnt guilty too, just look at us we're going the same way with longer working hours. Im missing the point here I think, the reason that US telly has that golden glow is that the film is made on human skin, which we all know changes colour over the years, in fact things have gotten so bad that the golden girls are now being re-run as the brown babes.
