    Why would/wouldn\'t you recommend Dreamweaver?

Exactly as the topic says!! Why would you recommend Dreamweaver?! Who would you be more inclined to recommend too? I mean a beginner for example, is Dreamweaver going to help them? Also what do you dislike about Dreamweaver? Sure Dreamweaver is the ultimate web editing tool and the industry standard, but why is that? What makes it soo good?!!

These questions will help many people looking to purchase and even fill them in on why they should buy!! Let's get cracking.

    Dreamweav ....umm I mean Later!!

Since they combined Dreamweaver Ultra-Dev into DreamWeaver MX it is crazy powerful!
I have been using DW since it was in Beta and IMO it was the first real WYSIWYG editor. I know Frontpage beat it to the gun, but well.. have you ever noticed how certian products seem to "stubbornly spring back" to their original shape while trying to resize? (and do strange things with code)

Apart for all the extras like, CSS, Templates, Libraries, Code Snippets ect, DW is just a nice intuitive program to use. Its not really that hard although it seems intimidating at first. Its pretty accurate and produces pretty good code. You don't have to know any code at all to build a webpage with Dreamweaver which is good for beginners, but its powerful enough for the professional.

What I don't like? Can't really think of anything totally annoying off the top of my head except that I wish it intergrated with Photoshop as well as it does with Fireworks. o I would say check out Go Live too before making a decision.

    + cost
+ easy to learn (tables and frames especially)
+ extendable (free extensions from Macromedia
+ integrates with Flash, Fireworks and PS
    + customizable with self-developed objects
    + site management
+ you don't NEED to know HTML or JavaScript to design pages. (it does help tho')

    - not totally integrated with PS

I love Dreamweaver and use it every day. I began with GoLive and I dig that too but I haven't tried the latest version yet.

Yeah, or upgrade to Studio MX and get Flash, Fireworks and Freehand with it too! With that combo, there's not a whole lot that you can't do.

like the double view of code and WYSYWIG. I like to tweak the code continuously as i'm developing.

i fear getting a job where i'm expected to use something inferior to DW....it think it's the best.

There are a lot of things out there to be afraid of, Composer, Publisher, FRONTPAGE, and so on and so forth.
But there are cool tools too like GoLive and Aspen.
But Dreamweaver is by far the easiest.
