Thread: It's NOT a calendar!!!

    It\'s NOT a calendar!!!

Not quite the beginning of the month yet!

This isn't the complete layout, but an illo I did that's part of a design for a friend's birthday card. I started off with an old photo which is HERE & used it as reference to do THIS...going for a collage-like effect by using the pen tool, freehand brushwork & a little of the original photo.

    This is sooo cute!
I can see it would make a great Birthdaycard with some text on it. Great job with the pentool, and for some reason I love the shoes!! lol

    Digi,
I think you did an outstanding job on the boy and cake. I like your choice of details on different parts of the picture. On the boy, you included just enough to convey a smiling young lad, happy to show off a birthday cake that he may have made himself. But I like how you didn't overdo the details on the boy.

The cake required more details and you provided withthe flame from the candles, shading on the icing, and highlights on the candy drops.

As usual, you're background is superb.

This is going to make for a very nice birthday card.

    heheh
subject matter suits the purpose perfectly.
...which would be why you made it into a card...
...so i'll stop stating the obvious.

good work! (d'oh. did it again...)

Thanks emm! I kind of like the shoes too...although I'm wondering if they detract too much from the cake...but I did them & they were so nice & shiny, they had to stay!

Davey...Thankyou! I'm so glad it made you smile! That's the effect I hope my pics have on people!

SoonerDog...Thankyou so much for noticing all those little things!!! I suppose everyone hopes people will notice the details in their work they put so much thought & care into & that it's not just some happy accident...so thankyou very much for being so observant!

    And thanks mrdesignperson!!!

    Hallmark ...

    Digi -

Great work here - I was going to respond with a comment on your attention to detail, but I see that Sooner already said it all - I really like what you did with the boy's hair - that is great!

I look forward to seeing this in Hallmark next time I go to buy a birthday card!

    Great work

Pretty much everything has been said. I like the color and the gradients are very nice. Thanks for sharing.
I do have to say that the exceptions are the shorts and the hair. Those were very well done.
