Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkaban
The Good News
Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban is being released in the United States on June 4th. A co-worker invited me to join her at an early screening on May24th. She won passes from a local TV station. The theater is directly across the street from our office. I can’t wait to see this flick. I’ve read all the books and have the first 2 movies on DVD.
The Bad News
My employer is moving us to another location on May 24th.
The Ugly News
The new location is 50 miles away from the theater. A good portion of the drive is on a 2-lane road. It takes very little to slow down / totally screw up the traffic flow. My work hours at the new location will be 7am-5:30. The screening is at 6pm.
I’m thinking that maybe I should just quit my job around lunch time.

just disappear a bit early but leave a coat and some notebooks on your desk so it looks like you are just in the bathroom or somewhere else. By the time someone realizes, it will be quitting time so everyone will leave anyway.

I can't wait to see this one...it's my favourite of the books & Lupin is my favourite character...I have a feeling David Thewlis is going to do him proud!

Where's Fantasm? But look! Hot cup of coffee!

Hey, that screening is on my birthday - Take me too
Theres a pretty decent trailer on apple.com for anyone who hasnt yet seen it. Ice seen the harry potter films to date but read none of the books (no intentions) - Films arent bad though.

Scott/Phil... Excellent ideas. There will be tons of paperwork strewn across my desk and my coffee mug will stay in a prominent place!!
Digi, that's interesting. I didn't know that David Thewlis was playing Lupin. I like him. Now I'm looking forward to seeing it all the more.
kristoficus, I'd love to invite you I couldn't afford the travel costs. An early Happy Birthday to you!!!!

Boss Man
You could always "suddenly become sick" around lunch time and leave with everyones blessings or just call in sick in the morning. Just be careful to not talk about the film at work or they will catch on
Or the final option would be to just ask the boss for the afternoon off.

Professor Lupin is the best, I am looking forward to this movie so intensely. I can't wait till Goblet of Fire to see the Quidditch World Cup and Mad Eye Moody, how are they going to pull that off considering "his face looks like it was carved out of wood by someone only vaguely familiar with how a human face should look"
