All worked fine until my PC jammed and required a reboot.

Since, my cursor set as "Normal brush tip" and "Standard" for other cursors is substantially offset from the actual painting area. See picture below.

This situation affects all paint tools such as Eraser, Paint brush, Clone stamp, etc... and is quite annoying.

I tried closing all and rebooting, no changes. I noticed that selecting for the paint cursors "Standard" and other cursors "Precise" the alignment is correct. Saved & closed PS, re-loaded PS but this not fix the problem.

Would be nice if someone could help fixing this problem, at it is now, it is almost impossible to work with the unaligned cursor.

When I originally scanned it, the picture was so light that many of the colors were barely visible.

I found that using "Equalize" made the picture seem much more vivid, which is what I wanted.

However, on closer inspection, the pixels seem to be random colors. For example, instead of brown, the colored area was a combination of red and dark grey.

Is there any way I can make the colors more vivid, without causing this problem? Or is there any way to convert the red and dark grey pixels into the "average" brown color?

My main problems are:-- (a) When I select the eraser tool and a soft brush to erase excess hair color (with Hardness at 0%, Opacity at 50 % and Flow at 100 % ) the eraser will only leave blobs of "graphpaper" on the image.

I take care to use the eraser tool and the brush tool on the transparent layer but to no avail!

(b) When I then click on the Adjustment Layer icon, select Hue / Saturation in the dropdownmenu, and then right-click on the Hue / Saturation layer to access the wording "Create Clipping Mask" I only get the wording RELEASE CLIPPING MASK. How can I release something that i never created?

(c) The final part:- How to proceed now to obtain the final result?
