I happened to come across this program, AutoCAD 2004. But the thing is I don't really have any idea how to use it. Do any of you guys have any thoughts on this program or know how to use it.... how is it compared to maya or 3dMax?

AutoCad is designed for the business side of 3D. Mining, Construction, Architecture, Machining, etc. It has been around forever and is very expensive if you buy the full version. I don't know how it compares to other programs.

From my understanding AutoCad is the like cappy said the construction version of 3d. It is designed by I beleive the makers of 3D Studio Max. It make very, very precise blueprints and has the ability to render them in 3D. I dont beleive anyone uses it for intense animation or 3D charectar creation. For that I would go with Max or Maya.
