i just wanted ask any photographers out there if they had any older cameras that they dont use anymore that might be of use to anyone starting out? free or cheap but free would be better :)

Wish I could help you out dude.
Unfortunatly, all my old cameras no longer function.
I kinda get to the point that I use them until they're dead and it's less expensive to buy a new one that to get it repaired.
I'd suggest hitting flea markets and pawn shops.
A buddy of mine gets prettty decent cameras (old manual ones usually) at a steal.

If you're talking to me Colin the answer is yes, it's a camera I have on my shelf along with half a dozen other old ones. I started your camera from "The Masters of PS" but only got as far as doing the lense..one of these days.

hey fotodog where abouts do you live? id be interested in those old busted cameras if you wanna send them my way ill tinker with them until they work i could always find manuals online.... i am desperate for any camera and its hard to find anything cheap here!

I'm in Minnesota.
I only have one left intact, it'a a Mamiya Sekor DSX/1000.
The shutter locks open on each exposure and the meter doesn't work at all.
Don't know if you'd be interested but let me know.

just revisiting this thread im still in need of anything anyone can give me
- i was hoping for one over xmas but santa didnt deliver this year - and i was a good boy. but thats ok i got a daughter instead :)
(thanks anyways fotodog it would have been good to have a go at that camera tell your wife im not too dissapointed that she threw it away)
anyway anyone else out there with anything they dont wont anymore id be interested in making that old gear put to good use again. instead of collecting dust on the shelf
