View Full Version : Two questions
How do you feather a object's edges in PS?
Also is there a way to smudge pixels for a watercolor water smudge look like in Painter or photo-paint. It's not the smear tool or wet edges brush. I already think not but I'm hoping.

for your first question, make sure your object is on it's own layer. Then select it. Then go to select=>feather feather it a suitable number of pixels and then press cntr+shift+I to invert the selction and delete.
For the second I don't really know but I garauntee that there is a way.
Maybe not a simple one but there will be a way.

Filter > Artistic > Watercolor
Thanks Waxpants, could not figure that one out. Small thing big stress.
the watercolor filter isn't it either. Thanks though. I put a example on my personal web space but haven't figured out how to link it.
Here is a example (I hope it works)

Looks like the smudge tool to me...

It did to me too at first but I tried it and you don't get the actual color blend. It seems that there should be a simple way to do it but my brain is locked this AM (which is normal).

Maybe some type of blur with the lasso tool and a little feather...

i thought maybe liquify slight blur and maybe an artist filter?
Thanks everyone for the input on this. Using the blur tool & smudge tool together with lower opacity seems to work on very small areas.
