Making a tennis ball?

HELP ME PLEASE!

I need to make a tennis ball... can someone please help me and instruct me on at least where to start?

Now what did I do here. Damn. Didn;t write things down as I went - so if things muck up along the way you may have some figuring out to do. I still have the file here so I think I can muddle through an explanation...

Okay.
ONE Start a new document (RGB, White, blah blah blah)
TWO Make a new layer
THREE Using your cicular marquee, make a circular selection anywhere
FOUR Select your gradient tool
FIVE Select your silver gradient (the grey with the two white lines) and make a spherical gradient in your selection
SIX Hit Autolevels
SEVEN Go to adjust levels and bring your blank WAAAAAAY up until it almost touches the white. You may want to bring the white down to make your line a bit bigger
EIGHT Make a new layer
NINE Select: Colour Range and select the black
TEN Select:Modify:Smooth 5 pixels or so
ELEVEN Select:Modify:Expand 5 pixels or so (this may vary depending on your start size)
TWELVE Fill with green. Any green. You can adjust it using Image:Adjust:Hue/Saturation until it's perfect
THIRTEEN (optional) Add some noise
FOURTEEN Reset your colours
FIFTEEN Add a new layer
SIXTEEN Use a soft airbrush with a low opacity in build up some shadows and highlights (remember to alt-click a layer to load a selection so you don't paint outside the lines)

DOH. That last step there... I meant CTRL-click a layer. Sorry if there was any confusion. I'm glad I could help. :)

Um... I'm having trouble with step nine. Everytime that i go to color range I select black under the "selected colors" and press OK and it says Warning: No pixels were selected. What should I do?

Try reversing step 8 & 9
