This is my first realistic piece and i have a few questions (as well as any other C&C):

http://www.sonic.net/~mefelf/pics/calculator.gif

how can i get the sides to look more 3d? they are black rubber and i can't get the right effect of the light on them... they also have slits on the side that might help with the effect when i have time to put them in.

--i will be making a twin version with the panel up and the face exposed later.

Looking good.
Have you tried airbrushing to get the effect, or the dodge and burn tools?

to confess the truth, a) i am a horrible painter and b) i don't really know how to use the dodge and burn tools :o
what i have been trying is masked gradients as overlays to provide a light/shadow effect.

EDIT - i didn't give much time on this one, but i think i've got it done, moving it to the show your work section
