I like it just right but I have to agree it looks like the beginning of something.. BUT! that kind of art is great to create, or have laying around! I also agree about the flare, I think it is not needed. BTW is the drop off of the blur in the top left on purpose?

It's a great piece and it would make a great desktop! Or an intro page! Or splash screen! Or....
