twirl drops?

i was reading the Photoshop Bible in a store and noticed the twirl drops part. owning to my lousy memory, i cannot remember much about it, only that there was something about the red blue yellow default gradient and the filter twirl with angle -360. can anyone please teach me how to make these twirl drops?

OOOPs! I didn't notice that part but what are we supposed to do without a point of reference and you don't own the book.
It seems to be getting harder to help people.

This is from the bible 5.0. Press D - make square selection - drag linear gradient short distance from upper left to lower right near center - twirl filter -360 apply 3 times - cmd.+ J for new layer - edit>transform>flip horizontal - lower opacity to 50.select rectangular marquee tool, then press the 5 key. - edit>transform>rotate 90 CW

Check above I coppied it word for word from the Bible, doesn't seem to be good enough, you might need to mail the book.
