Curious as to why you chose the Dimage? Must have been something that turned your crank!

:) yeah, Sam time passes quick here in France. Merry xmas, btw:D
Cappy, mate it was the crit I read at dpreview and also the store, which alows me a ten month credit:D as more then thousand euros is much money:(
I first was thinking, waiting for the new cp5400 this summer.
anyway, it's just another step in learning and when I get my digital reflex I may be able to say that I know a little bit of photography:)
I need to set my cam in my way now and the Minolta is pretty good for manuel settings, in first sight but also a lil complicated but don't we just love pulling down walls?:D
I hope not to regret my buy:)

Oh, I do not think that you will regret your buy. That was one in the group that I was going to choose from when I got my 5700......... but I could not resist the Nikon. Service is one very important consideration when you purchase.
I can't wait to hear your crit of the camera........ especially the fact that it has a 28mm lens......... don't skimp on the memory card.. you should have at least a 256mg card.:) I heard that it is very much like holding an SLR when shooting. Wow moving from a 2500 to the 7I, you'll be in heaven. Keep me posted please.:D

:) yeah cappy, the lens from 28mm to 200 did influence my choise, of course. I did some tests already this evening, more technic then practice though. browsing through the menu, reading notes and so on.
the batteries are on charging for now. I put in four normal batteries for testing and the got empty pretty quick. I hope the accus have a longer life. I heard that was one of the problems with the Dimage7i. the chargingtime is long, 260 minutes they say in the notebook.
Those are, of course, some first conclusions which have to be proofed in the pratical future. another intresting thing is the super view finder and you don't need to activied the lcd screen (longer battery life)
well, hopefully tomorrow will be nicer weather then today. the old boats meeting here should offer some nice shots and the 200mm optical zoom will be so useful then:)
I'll stop for now, over-blablaing you but I guess I neede that to justify the heavy price:D
Talk to you tomorrow

Heheheh MEnolta

Get the 2000 MaHa batteries with the charger, you'll do all right.

Cappy, I just bought a set of Sony NI-MH 2100, put them in the charger coming with the cam and three hours later they were filled. That seems short to me.
I read that it takes about 5-6 hours to charge them.
Other then that, I went back to the store and toled them that the Sanyo accus are dead (take 10 shots). They gonna give me another set this week. That's a good deal, as I read at dpreview guys getting about the same number of shots with this set.
All those problems put aside it seems to be an awesome cam. I love the quality of the pics right out of the cam.
I have to find a cool place now to test the bulb. I'll bring up the pics if they are showable.
Thanks for helping, guys:notworthy

Awesome Rain, I did not know that they were upto 2100 yet. I have had my head buried in php/MySql and coding of different sorts but it is getting time to start researching and shooting again. I had a bear in my front yard and a blue heron on the top of one of my trees and a grouse flying across my vision, all in one day.... and where was my camera.........................? I can be so stupid sometimes.
