O yeah, just found out how to rotate select pieces w/o them going off canvas in Gimp and now the lighting effects are without border! :D
I love photoshop n' Gimp, but my affair /w Gimp is now overshadowing photoshop (i find lighting and blur effects to be better in GImp).
here's a piece i'm working on (rough draft) where a gas planet is being hit /w space lightning of sorts: (sorry, super low res jpg)

I luv both Photoshop n' Gimp.
here's mainly how i categorize the programs:
Photoshop- corporate grafix (work), drawing
Gimp- recreational grafix (fun)
Photoshop's much more reliable (less crashes) and that's important when doing a 3000x3000pxl 300dpi project at work. Photoshop is also better at doing text.

(although i just used Gimp at work today to create a seamless texture for a Photoshop project, something P-shop sux at doing)

Hey! Gimp got me gave me the best head start any newbee could ask for! I can’t believe I forgot all about it!! Weird…Anyway, it really rocks and is fairly easy to learn on!

I really like your image; it's unique for what we usually see in here!

As far as seamless textures go… From what I remember of Gimp, PS does them just as easily I actually use the exact same process that I did with Gimp years ago...

Oh and I love you avatar!!
